Swiss Volunteer Arrives with a Snow Storm

The Swiss volunteer, Tobias Schicker, arrived to Lebanon on Thursday morning March 15, 2007. His flight was expected at 2.15am but it arrived at 3.00am. A very bad snow storm was hitting Lebanon at that time. We barely managed to cross Dahr El-Beidar to meet him at the airport. When we returned the road was already closed. We barely managed to reach Bhamdoun when the police informed us that the road was closed. We waited for a while, then thought what better way to welcome Tobias than to take him for the typical Lebanese breakfast of Knafeh. We drove back to Beirut and arrived at Sea Sweet Shop at 5.00am when it was just opening. We went in and introduced Tobias to our delicious Knafah lingering around until 5.30am when we headed back towards the mountains. Upon arrival in Bhamdoun we discovered that the road was still closed. We waited for a while then the police reopened the road. We drove through the hazardous road arriving to a totally snow covered Schneller school at 7.30am. We thank God for his safe arrival, and we express our gratitude to Schneller Verein Switzerland for sending Tobias and the beautiful white snow our way.
