South African Volunteers at JLSS

After a long period of anxiety and waiting, visas for the South African team of volunteers were finally granted, and the team arrived to JLSS on Wednesday 26 November 2008.
The team comprises of sixSouth African Team of Volunteers members: Willem Jacobus Breedt and his wife Marlize (with their two young daughers Aleah and Elon), Liesl Yzelle, Sonja Muller, Willem Andre Pretorius, and Dean Justin Van Staden.
Cobus will be in charge of our guest house and will also help in the main office. Marlize will look after her two young daughters and will help in our nursery school when she has time. Liesl, who is a practicing dentist, will help in the boarding department until we find a way for her to treat our students teeth, as we currently do not have a dental clinic at school. Sonja, who has an honors in psychology, is helping support our arts department and will eventually be working in the girls vocational training center. Andre, who is a mechanic by profession, will be working in our car mechanics department. Dean, who has a degree in Sport Science, will be supporting our sports teacher and doing sports activities for the boarding students.
The team will work at JLSS Mondays to Thursdays and will dedicate Fridays to learning Arabic. Team members will also be involved in other activities in our school as much as their time will allow them. We welcome the South African team in our school, and we thank them for their presence among us. We look forward to a long time of cooperation and working together in serving our needy children. We also thank all the people who support them, and we especially thank our friends who enabled them to be in our school.
