German Embassy Support to JLSS
Her Excellency Ms. Birgitta Siefker-Eberle, German Ambassador in
Beirut, kindly included JLSS in the German Development Aid Program this
year. We applied for two badly needed pieces of equipment which are very
expensive and we cannot afford. Our laundry department is badly in need
of a heavy duty industrial washing machine which costs around US$ 8,000,
and our kitchen equally needs a second 100 liter tilting cooking pot
which costs around US$ 10,000.
Our application was approved, and the director, Rev. George D. Haddad,
along with board member, Mr. Jean Dagher, went to the German Embassy in
Mteileb on Wednesday 14 November 2012, to sign the grant agreement with
her excellency Ms. Birgitta Siefker-Eberle.
As the local supplier cannot deliver the cooking pot before the end of
December 2012, it was imperative in accordance with the German
Development Program regulations to move this part of the project to next
year.
The washing machine was delivered on 5 December 2012.
We thank Her Excellency Ms. Birgitta Siefker-Eberle for her wonderful
friendship and support of our school. We are very grateful to her, the
German people, and the German government for both grants which will
provide us with badly needed equipment, and for the wonderful support we
receive from Germany which is the backbone of the JLSS mission and
programs.
Vielen Dank!
