First Trimester 2015/2016 Activities
JLSS continued this academic year with the usual activities and
programs.
The honoring of distinctive students took place on 24 October 2015 at
6:00 PM in Emile Lahhoud Center - Dbayeh. Attending was the Minster of
Education Mr. Elias Saab, the General Secretary of the Association of
Evangelical Schools in Lebanon Dr. Nabil Costa, in addition to Rev.
Joseph Kassab; and the General Secretary of Catholic Schools in
Lebanon Father Boutros Azzar.
Four of our students were recognized for their achievements in the
official exams (Grade 9) last year. We congratulate Jad Abdallah Jbara,
Sara Khaled Waked, Souad Khaled Fares, and Walid Adel Hammoud for their
achievements.
Schneller Founder's Day and Lebanese Independence Day were celebrated
on 20 November 2015 at 1:00 PM in Hermann Schneller Hall. The program
included dances, sketches, songs, and performances by our students. They
all did well and had a great time. We thank all the teachers and the
head of the Academic Department, Miss Rita Chakrina, for the wonderful
program they prepared for that special occasion.
A
twenty-three-member tour-group from the EVS Foundation (Stiftung) and
SVS visited Schneller School and stayed in its guesthouse from 21 to 24
November 2015. They visited various places in Lebanon and spent the last
day in our school visiting the various department.
We thank them for their visit and their wonderful support of our school.
The
Boarding Department organized the usual activities.
Advent preparations and activities kept the boarding homes very busy
during late November and December.
St. Barbara's Day and St. Nicholas day were celebrated on Thursday 3
December 2015.
Both the Academic and Boarding departments celebrated Christmas on
Monday 12 December 2015.
The Academic Program was held in St. Michael's Church at 1:30 PM. The
children presented a nice program of carols and music. We thank all the
teachers and especially our music teacher, Mr. Joseph Sleilati for that
program. We also congratulate the children and thank them for their nice
performance.
The boarding celebration started at 6:00 PM with a special joint
celebration of the Prophet's Birthday and
Christmas in St. Michael's Church. Students sang a special song to
commemorate the Prophet's Birthday, then a student spoke about the
special meaning of that occasion. The service continued with lessons and
carols and was concluded with prayer.
The special Christmas dinner followed. Members of staff with their
families joined boarding children in the boarding homes for dinner.
After dinner, all students received their Christmas presents.
We thank the head of the Boarding Department, Miss Souad Boutros, the
educators, and our kitchen staff for their hard work for that special
occasion.
We especially thank our partners, Embrace the Middle East, for providing
us with a yearly grant for Christmas presents to boarding children.
