The Boarding Department
The Boarding Department is a special learning and caring unit that serves needy children, along with other educational departments, at Schneller School. The purpose of this department is to shelter children from broken families and poor parents through housing them in better settings that help them to grow and develop social skills, self-confidence, motivation, and cognition (the process of knowing).
The total number of boarding students this year is 166. They
are divided among ten families (boarding homes). Twenty four of these children are girls and the rest are boys between four and twenty years of age.
These boys and girls come from different religious backgrounds and confessions (Christians and Muslims). In this sense Schneller is a nonsectarian institution that welcomes children regardless of their social, religious, or national background.
The children are overseen by twelve educators and one Swiss volunteer. They provide encouragement and guidance to children helping them to cope effectively with the problems they are facing in life.
The Schneller Boarding Department is a caring home that nurtures its pupils physically, academically, and spiritually. It gives hope and opens new opportunities to those who do not have the chance to have a normal life. Therefore, its activities and work vary according to the needs of the students. It fulfills the educational demands from the school, as well as trying to satisfy children’s interests and hobbies through sports, games, computer programs, and cultural trips.
The most powerful service that the Schneller Boarding department offers is its loving care which is characterized by warmth, sensitivity, understanding, genuine concern, and willingness to meet children and their parents in an attitude of care, love, tolerance and peace.
