The Academic Department
To educate orphans and socially underprivileged children regardless of sex, race, and religion is an important part of the mission of our school. It strives to help the children who are entrusted to its care to grow intellectually, psychologically, ethically and spiritually into young men and women who will be responsible members of the society.
This department consists of the Kindergarten (KG1 & KG2), the Elementary School (grades 1 to 6), and the Intermediate School (Grades 7 to 9). There are about 360 students (boarding and day students) taught by 18 teachers and 2 supervisors. Students start studying English and Arabic at the age of 4, German in grade 4 up to grade 9, and Computer lessons in grade 3 up to grade 9 . They study Art, Music and Sports in all grades. Education in Schneller is based on teaching values and concepts of honesty, caring for others, respect, peace, accepting each other, and focuses on real life topics and projects, involving students cooperation and initiative. Educators tend to emphasize creativity, self expression, confidence, responsibility, self assessment, social interest, solving problems, rising awareness [dangers of smoking, addiction, pollution, nutrition] field trips, a lot of activities [plays, festivals on different occasions]. The school takes care of the slow learners, weak students and students of different capabilities and the teachers participate in workshops and courses in Haigasian University, A.U.B., and the German Embassy.
